Week 2 - Reflections

So, we are nearing the end of another week of this highly interesting course. I 'got hooked', and I find myself absorbed in it, because it is really both enticing and beneficial. This week I tried using many search engines (many of them I didn't know about at all), and it was good to become aware of so many other possibilities to access interesting websites, other than Google, I mean. One great source of links to useful search engines and websites was provided by participants of this course. I will use some of those in my future work.
Although I am not completely new to ABCD  model and learning objectives, this week I learned a lot of new things about it  while  reading the articles related to it. Without doubt, setting clear objectives is an essential  prerequisite for good teaching.
I also made the first step towards my final project – I picked the class that I believe is the most convenient for it and described it on Nicenet. It will be definitely fun to do the project with that class, I am sure they will also benefit from it.
One more thing that I want to note is a great job that our instructor is doing. I believe it is very important to give comments on everyone’s work, and that it serves as a huge motivation for us on the one hand, and a guideline on the other. It is particularly important having in mind the fact that this is an online environment.
Anyways, I am both having fun and learning a lot at the same time.
Looking forward to the rest of the course.

  1. Hello Dzemal
We both agree that time does fly! We have just finished week 2 in a heartbeat. There were many web search engines that I was not familiar either and I am glad our course administrator decided to post that very useful link from noodletools. Sometimes I wonder how much more is out there and just it is just few clicks away? Internet for me is like a deep ocean full of treasures. It can become very addictive because of that, especially for inquisitive minds. I tried hard to make a balance between this machine and my family. We love to spend time together on the weekends.

Regarding the ABCD objectives, I confess it was something I came across with long long time ago, but I didn´t know it had been “revisited” or upgraded; anyway it was very interesting to see how this can help us a lot these digital days. I found it particularly stimulating Bloon´s digital pyramid, it really helps to decide which technological tool we should use when designing our objectives. Again, that is just an element from our dashboard when it comes to create our Language Learning Objectives, something we have already discussed :)

As for our project, I still undecided which path to take. For now, I just did a general description of the background. I have a couple of ideas floating in my head but I still to focus on something concrete. BTW, is that a picture form your area? I tried to click on it to see it bigger. Yes, I agree Janine has done a wonderful job, being able to keep track of everyone´s thought should not be that easy.

Finally, Dzemal, I hope to be able to visit your blog and find fresh ideas on ICT and I hope we both enjoy this journey along with the rest of the world.

  2. Hi Julio! And thank you for commenting on my blog.As you say, Internet is an ocean full of treasure, but, unfortunately, full of useless things too, so sometimes we waste lots of time until we get to something that is valuable, and that can be so frustrating. Just like you, I am trying to spend less time at the computer, and more with my family, but often I find myself carried away, and while I had been planning just to do a quick search, I realize that it took my an hour or two.
To be honest, I didn't use lots of tech tools in my classes, so for me it's not very difficult to pick a project. Bluntly speaking, whatever I try, it will be something new for my students :) . This is a joke, but there is some truth in it :).
It's the photo of mount Prenj, which is just outside of Mostar. You know, Bosnia is a mountainous country, and the landscape is wonderful.
Just like you, I hope that this will be a memorable and productive experience for all of us.
